Published by the Hoboken Historical Museum, 2005
Soft cover, 144 pages, 8” x 10”, full color
Hoboken, New Jersey, has, according to author Jim Hans, more firsts than any other mile-square town in the nation. Since Henry Hudson's navigator described our green stone cliffs in 1609, Hoboken has been a special place. Jim Hans, "100% historian and 100% artist," gathers here100 of his favorite Hoboken firsts in a quirky and colorful collection of engravings, photos, paintings, maps, scrapbooks, antique advertising, and more. Along with 100 firsts, the book includes an introduction, a history of early Hoboken and the founding Stevens family, a timeline, and a note on the landmark Clam Broth House. Jim Hans is an author, a visual artist and a collector of archival graphics, as well as a Hoboken historian and founder of the Hoboken Historical Museum in 1986.
